Strong black tea, milk and freshly cooked tapioca pearls make a customisable drink with controlled sweetness and plenty of ice.

Ingredients

  • 80 g quick-cooking tapioca pearls
  • 1 l warm water, for cooking the pearls
  • 400 ml strong black tea
  • 120 ml milk or unsweetened plant drink
  • 30 g sugar
  • 120 g ice cubes

Method

Beginner tips

  • Cool the strong tea completely and follow the pearl packet timing; cooked pearls are best used straight away.

Substitutions and variations

  • Use an unsweetened plant drink for a vegan milk tea, or omit milk for a fruit-tea version.
