For more than two decades, Asia Markt Thien Tam has been part of everyday life in Ingolstadt, bringing familiar flavours, special ingredients and high-quality groceries from Vietnam, Thailand and across Asia closer to local families, home cooks and food lovers.
In August 2026, the shop was featured in a local newspaper article about international supermarkets in Ingolstadt. Under the headline “Durian-Früchte und türkisches Brot”, the article looked at how international grocery stores contribute to the city’s culinary diversity. The accompanying photograph shows Tan Nguyen inside the Asian market, presenting durian – one of Southeast Asia’s most distinctive fruits.
For us, appearing in the local press means more than publicity. It is a meaningful sign that a small local business can become a familiar and trusted part of its community over many years.
Familiar tastes – and new discoveries
For Vietnamese, Thai and other Asian families living in and around Ingolstadt, the shop is a place to find familiar foods from home: rice, noodles, sauces, herbs, vegetables, frozen products, snacks, spices and many speciality ingredients.
At the same time, more and more customers visit because they want to discover something new – perhaps the ingredients for their first homemade phở, Thai curry, summer rolls, hotpot, sushi or Korean dish.
